English for the situations you face.
Follow a fictional data product through ingestion, modeling, orchestration, quality and serving. Explain problems in a way that helps other teams understand the impact.
Clarify a data requirement
Ask about the source, expected fields and delivery schedule.
Describe a pipeline step
Explain inputs, transformations and the output another team needs.
Report a quality issue
Name missing or delayed records and their effect without confusing missing with zero.
Coordinate recovery
Confirm a next check and communicate what is ready for use.
Picture one workday.
A report has no records for Tuesday.
An original example of the planned learning approach. The workplace and project are fictional.
The situation
A dashboard shows no Tuesday records because a delivery has not arrived. That does not mean the business had no activity.
What you practice
Distinguish no data is available from the value is zero. Name the missing period and avoid drawing a business conclusion from an incomplete feed.
A response to build toward
Tuesday's records have not arrived, so the report is incomplete. We cannot treat the missing value as zero.
Your next step
State the data gap, its reporting effect and the next check.
A workday with something to say.
A message arrives. A teammate needs an answer. Scott helps you understand the situation and build the English to respond.

The planned experience follows 30 workdays across six simulated weeks. Study at your own pace; “your first month” describes the experience, not a completion deadline.
