Marketing English: more clicks does not mean more signups
A campaign lead asks whether this week was better. Your report shows more clicks but the same number of recorded signups. A useful answer names what changed and what did not.
The short answer
Name both measures: Clicks increased from 400 to 500, but recorded signups stayed at 20. But signals the contrast. This reports more clicks, not more purchases or more unique customers.
Keep the metric attached to the number.
A click counts an interaction, not automatically a purchase. A conversion is a defined valuable action; in this example it means a completed signup, not a sale. Use increased from … to … for the change and stayed at … for the unchanged count. Name the two reporting periods and use the same definitions when comparing. Recorded tells the reader that you are describing the report, not every action that may have happened.
Compare the examples
Clicks increased from 400 last week to 500 this week.
Recorded signups stayed at 20 in both weeks.
We recorded more clicks, but not more signups.
Conversions is not a universal synonym for sales. Define the action. A signup conversion can happen without a purchase.
Build the meaning step by step

Clicks rose from 400 to 500; recorded signups remained 20. Which sentence fits?
Clicks increased, but recorded signups stayed at 20.Only clicks increased. Neither signup growth nor sales growth is shown.
This report defines a conversion as a completed signup. What does 20 conversions tell you?
The report records 20 completed signups.Use the report’s defined action. Purchases and unique clickers are different measures.
Why write recorded signups rather than all signups that happened?
It limits the claim to what the report records.Recorded states the evidence boundary without claiming complete tracking or a broken report.
Put it into practice
Repair a campaign summary
Same campaign, two full weeks, unchanged metric definitions: clicks 400 then 500; recorded signups 20 then 20. Replace the unsupported summary.
The campaign brought in 100 more customers.
See a model answer
Clicks increased from 400 to 500, but recorded signups stayed at 20.
The summary is useful because it says exactly what the report supports, not why it happened.
A little more clarity
Common questions
A few useful details before you move on.
Are 500 clicks always 500 people?
No. A person can click more than once. Use the metric’s actual definition instead of changing clicks to people.
The report shows 500 clicks, not 500 unique visitors.
Can I say the campaign was successful?
Only with a defined goal and supporting evidence. More clicks alone does not establish every kind of success. State which goal was met if you know.
We met the click target; the signup target was not met.
Take it into your day
Report the measured change; do not promote a click into a sale.
