TOEFL daily-life reading: waitlisted or confirmed?
A friendly confirmation that your request arrived can look like confirmation of a seat. This original Read in Daily Life practice teaches you to separate those messages.
The short answer
Waitlisted means you are waiting for a possible place; it does not by itself confirm one. Read what the message says must happen next. Request received, seat offered and registration confirmed describe different stages.
Check what is confirmed—not just whether the message sounds positive.
Original notice: We received your workshop request. The session is full, so you are on the waitlist. We will email you if a seat opens. Do not attend without a separate confirmation. This confirms receipt of the request and waitlist status. It does not confirm attendance. The word if makes a later seat conditional, not certain.

Common questions
A few useful details before you move on.
Can a positive message still leave an action pending?
Yes. A seat offer may still require acceptance. Read the condition even when the opening sounds encouraging.
A place is available. Please reply to accept it.
Does waitlisted mean permanently rejected?
Not by itself. It means a place is not confirmed now and may become available. The message may state additional conditions or an expiry; do not invent either acceptance or rejection.
You remain on the waitlist until Friday.
Take it into your day
Read the current status and its conditions before assuming you have a place.
